At three allocated times of the day (for example 8:30, 12:30, 18:30 - take your pick) you will log into our screen guided meditation alongside thousands of others across Greater Manchester and take part in our 3 x 3 minute guided meditation sessions.

What if I don't know how to meditate?

Don't worry - together with our expert partners Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, we will be sharing advice and best practice on how to go about it.

Will someone guide me how to do it at the event?

Yes - either in real time on screen or via a recorded guidance (up to you).

How can I persuade someone else to do it with me?

We've asked people (beginners or sceptics) what they do to quiten their mind after a busy day. Everyone has an answer e.g., watch TV, read a book, play sport, exercise, cook, shop. This is a start point to removing mind wandering and focusing on one thing. The more you remove distractions and focus on one object, the closer to meditation it becomes. Then, it's less of a jump to giving meditation a go.

How will I know if I'm improving / I've tried it before and it didn't work?

We will provide you with your own digital meditation profile. You can log what % of your meditation practice is 'focused' and what % is with your mind wandering (thoughts, memories, thinking 'what's for tea'). This is your judgement so no need to worry - it's only an estimate. You can record this after each practice - and the science confirms that if you practice, you will improve your focus and attention. Each thought you clear to return to your focus and meditation is a bit like lifting a weight.
